The parish of Doddinghurst is a rural village, just north of Brentwood main town, which has a close, friendly community feel. The village is steeped in history with All Saints Church dating back to the 13th century and its associated Priest House, which are clear to see from Church Lane. Throughout the year, the village plays host to a variety of fun, family friendly events including village fun days and the Doddinghurst Donkey Derby. There is a small row of shops to explore near the village hall and two great schools; in fact, Doddinghurst C of E Junior school had a revamp in 2009, making it better than ever.
You will find plenty to keep the family and children entertained, whether you are stopping for a bite to eat at one of the pubs or enjoying ‘Phil’s Paradise Promotions’ inflatable fun days. The Shepherd is a 15th century inn also situated in this charming village, which offers real ale and beer. The villages other amenities include the village hall and scout hut. The Junior School had a revamp in 2009 with a new classroom, ICT suite, a brand new entrance and library, running a ‘before school club’ and ‘after school club’. The area has a rich variety of footpaths around its countryside, many of which link up with those of adjacent parishes, and to Brentwood, making it an ideal place for a country ramble.
